Murphy's Oil Soap. My ex-husband was a mechanic and I always uses it on his clothes.
You need to use a degreaser on your clothes.

Oil Eaters spray. Just spray directly on clothes, let set a few minutes then laundry on heavyily soiled. Oil will be all gone!

To remove a number of different types of stains as well as grass stains and chewing gum from clothes I have had much success pretreating the areas with good ole WD-40 and I have washed my overalls using the degreaser you can buy at stores like Target or 'Wally World' or an auto parts store. They are made by Bleach-white and other brands and I use it just like laundry soap. The purple degreaser you can buy in half gallon and larger from many stores has worked great for me on many fabrics without sacrificing comfort. The clothes always come out soft. Hope this helps.
My husband worked in maintenance and greased up his clothes regularly.

Do a normal load setup with hot water, use soap like normal and add ammonia to the load (1 cup to 2 cups)

Ammonia is a degreaser and water softener at the same time.

Wash on the longest cycle or agitate then let set for 30 min and restart.

Works very well on most all oils and greases. And there are no real big extra steps to perform such as pretreating and rubbing.
