I drive an '05Nissan Altima 3.5L SL with 89k miles on it.
Is 89K a car with high milage? Any help would be appreciated, thanks peeps! What is the best motor oil for my Altima?
A synthetic 5w-30 should be fine. Check your car owners manual for their recommendations too. It depends on the climate as well. Some people do consider anything over 75k high milage but for newer cars that's nothing. On vehicles over 100-120k then you may want an oil with more viscosity. Like 10w-30/40 to maintain a proper seal and compression. Just remember, once you use synthetic oil, always use synthetic oils as to not affect the performance or longevity of your engine. Hope this helps. What is the best motor oil for my Altima?
Perhaps the best full synthetic motor oil is Mobil1 5W-30 which is the correct viscosity for your car. If you don't care to spring for a few extra bucks for a five quart container of Mobil1 at Walmart, Havoline, Valvoline Mobil 5000 Mobil 7,500 and Brad Penn are all aggressively high detergent regular oil's.
High mileage oil is a factory scare rip-off. It contains an additive that slows down very small oil leaks and that's it! If you're motor doesn't leak like a stuck pig it won't benefit form this high priced spread.
any name brand oil 5w30 fine if it doesnt use any oil between oil changes if you have to add oil to it in between or you live where its hot go with a 10w30 or 10w40 any name brand its best you try and stick with one type of oil but it really doesnt matter ive used them all at least once iv not seen any differents an dmost wil not til on ehas to take motor a part and look inside to know if that oil was good or not
The weight of oil you should use is 5w-30 and the mileage for this
car is not high due to the fact that it will do twice as many miles
that it has on it now without a problem. 200,000 miles is very, very
common in cars nowadays.
89 k is pretty low mileage. Use a synthetic or synthetic blend oil, any major brand, and your car will last a long time.
