I have a toyota corolla 06 i changed the oil yesterday its suppose to get 5w30 but i put 10w30. how bad is this?Motor oil?
Not that bad. The 10 weight is a little higher viscosity when cold than the 5 weight.
At most, it will affect your cold driving mileage.Motor oil?
No problem the only difference is that 5w30 is more effective in colder weather but equally effective in warm weather. Less than 20 - 25 degrees I think. Hope this helps.

Hi, no big deal....the 5 weight is a tad thinner upon start up, but as the engine and oil heat up the viscosity changes progressively thruout the heat range. Just change the oil again in 3,000 miles with the correct weight oil........i'll bet you dont even notice a difference. I would just avoid drivng the car hard in the first few minutes of operation. Will not have any effect. If you consult your owner's manual, there should be a chart indicating what temperature range the engine oils may be used.

the figures refer to the viscosity of the fluid,what you have done really wont make any odds ,as standard you should change the oil regular,allow the engine to warm up before driving the car hard and keep an eye on temp,dont worry about the oil you have put in,it wont make one iota of difference,happy christmas
