I s there any benefit to change from a natural oil to a synthetic motor oil in a new car?

After the first oil change, which was done after approximately 4 months I switched to a synthetic.I s there any benefit to change from a natural oil to a synthetic motor oil in a new car?
There is no harm in switch to synthetic. I work in an automotive repair shop and we're switching most all cars to synthetic oil. Blends are no good since they are not truely synthetic anyway.

If you rationalize the cost of changing your oil every 3K with mineral oil versus every 7.5K (our recommendation) with synthetic oil, not only is it cheaper, but think about how much LESS waste oil you are producing! Along with the time you save by not having to take your car to the shop. Just be sure that you are getting a true synthetic. I recommend Mobil 1. It's the best there is.

ALSO, be sure to check your oil every thousand miles or so. Even new cars will burn oil occasionally and when you have 7.5K between changes, you may need to top it up!I s there any benefit to change from a natural oil to a synthetic motor oil in a new car?
In a new car, my first consideration is to maintain the powertrain warranty. So I would make sure I was obeying the oil type and change requirements in the manual. You might have your oil changed at the dealer for the first year until your sure that the engine won't have an early parts failure. Many dealers are using at least a synthetic blend in their normal oil changes (like Ford). Later on, the synthetic advantage is superior engine protection and extended oil change intervals.
not entirely, no. its design is to handle a longer period of time between oil changes, not really to improve power or anything like that. as far as the rising cost of oil, i would have stayed with regular oil. it should be changed quarterly - especially in a new car. you don't want to void your warranty. also i would contact your warranty provider to see if you have voided by adding synthetic. what made you decide to change it to that anyways?

  1. Conventional oil is fine also just quicker oil changes=minus quality compared to synthetic = more protection in cold and heat!! (Owner Decides spend a little now or spend a lot Later) plus resale value is something to think about =$$:-) :-)
