A good quality engine oil is extremely important but pre-startup lubrication will do much more to extend engine life. Most engine wear occurs at startup and the racing pros install pre-oilers to eliminate that startup wear. You can do the same and easily extend the life of your engine to well beyond 500,000 miles under normal driving conditions and with regular oil changes. The Accusump pre-oiler oil reservoir system is one of the best and can be purchased at most speedshops. It is also very affordable and an easy one-line installation. The Accusump installation kit (sold separately) to access the engine oil flow by way of an input sandwich adapter which mounts between the spin on filter and the engine block makes installation very easy. Or you can plumb the Accusump pre-oiler oil reservoir into a remote oil filter, oil cooler, an unused oil galley plug, or install a ';T'; on the oil sender.
It's far more important to follow the maintenance schedule and change oil regularly than using the most expensive oil available.

Many expert will tell you, there isn't that much difference in oil from different companies. Today's lubricants are very advanced. Use the type of oil specified in your manual. Follow the ';severe use'; schedule, unless you are only driving on highways.

Other parts of the car will start to degrade way before your engine reaches 300,000 miles. Oil won't help you with any of those changes. You need to also pay attention to the cooling system. I'd suggest replacing and flushing coolant as required by the manual. Many owners ignore cooling. It is just as important as motor oil.
For a 3000 mile oil change interval, use any name brand oil in the proper viscosity, which I think is 5W-20 for a Focus. Use the Motorcraft oil filters, which you can find at any auto parts store or Walmart.

You can extend your oil change interval if you upgrade to full synthetic oil. 5000 miles or more is possible without problems.
The type of oil is not the issue. The biggest issue is how often to change it. I myself change oil every 2200 miles or there about. My car engines seem to last forever. Please remember, people getting rid of the car is not because the engine itself fails, it's other components fail that makes you frustrated.
read your manual most likly it 5w 30 but if its really hot all the time there you might want to run 10w 30 talk to a local mechanic they will normally give you that kind of info for free to get you to come to them for bigger problems and they will know what works best in your clim
MOBIL ONE, it's the best synthetic oil. you also wouldn't have to change your oil every 3k miles because the oil doesn't breakdown. I would say change the oil every 5-7 thousand miles with mobil one.
2006 ford focus calls for Motorcraft 5w-20. Those ford love this stuff!

I always recommend Motorcraft Semi-synthetic.

If you change the oil every 3mo. and or 3,000 miles you should get the life that you want from your engine.

Good luck
Mobil oil is recommanded for ford focus. but also depends on temperature. If it is winter use light oil and in summer use thick oil
