What causes engine coolant to get into my motor oil?

It may be water from the radiator. It is a 96 Chevy 1500 2wd small v8.What causes engine coolant to get into my motor oil?
Blown head gasket or leaking intake manifold. What causes engine coolant to get into my motor oil?
Hello,

Well I can say it's not good !!!! A blown headgasket, a cracked cylinder. Has the car been over-heated ? I would drain the oil and radiator ASAP !!!! GO to advance auto parts and buy a can of engine block sealer and follow all directions exactly as it says!! I have repaired 3 cars this way and they are still ok. It is worth 50.00 to try before spending 500.00 or more to fix the head gasket. My opinion only !! Im sure someone will tell you it don't work, but , it worked great for me !! Good Luck !!!!!!
Generaly speaking there are two potential reasons for this, first the inlet gasket could have failed or the cylinder head gasket has failed.

Ja.
Generally, it's a defective intake or head gasket.
your head gasket is blown. u need to replace it
There are a couple of answers for this one. Gm small v8 such as the 3.1 are notorious for the intake manifold to leak the coolant. It is quite the repair if done in a shop. It could also be the head gasket. However if it is you will be replacing the intake manifold gasket. Note if you have aluminum heads if the car has been overheated they need to be checked to make sure they are not warped. If they are warped and you try to repair without taking them to a machine shop you will continue to have problems.
Three possibilities , none of them good.....Blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block......
