Is synthetic motor oil worth changing to?

I'm looking to get more miles per gallon. I've heard that it helps. Anyone with real-world experience? Is synthetic motor oil worth changing to?
As long as you change your oil on a regular basis there is no need to switch. Some cars, such as Porsche's and BMW's come with it from the factory. They need to continue using it unless the owner wants to void the warranty. If your car didn't come with it then it doesn't need it. You'll end up paying more for synthetic and you won't save that much on fuel. Overall, you'll be spending more money when you're trying to save it. I've got over 220,000kms on my car and I haven't had it in the shop for any mechanical repairs. I've never once used synthetic because for an average vehicle it's totally unnecessary. Is synthetic motor oil worth changing to?
If your motor has been run for a long time on mineral oil, the change to synthetic may cause leaks. What you can do is use a blended oil, they have part synthetic and part mineral oil. You get the best parts of both worlds that way. Mineral oil is superior for ring sealing and the synthetic is best for lubrication.
It all depends. Newer cars have aluminum heads, higher compression, and cast aluminum blocks, so synthetic oil is better for them. But if you have an older car, stick with conventional. Many old cars cannot handle a sudden change to synthetic oil and will reject it, resulting in oil leaks. As a general rule: if you don't normally use synthetic oil, don't start; if you do normally use synthetic oil, don't stop.
yes because it helps out the engine.
