The VStar has the oil filter hidden behind a cover that hides behind the right floorboard. This filter is not hard to change, its just different from most others.





Motul is a good motorcycle specific oil that's not too expensive. They make a synthetic blend, as well.


More important than brand is regular service.
If I remember correctly its 6 qts. You have two options on how to confirm this information.
