How to get rid of barrel of used motor oil?

My dad recently passed away and there's some stuff in the garage my mom wants to get rid of. There's two car engines in there that were really old, that she's found a way to get rid of, but there's also a huge barrel of oil that's been sitting in the back for many years. I don't even think it's sealed, and it's overflowing a bit. I was wondering if anyone knew a practical way to get rid of this thing and what to do so I can help her out. Thanks. How to get rid of barrel of used motor oil?
Contact your local waste disposal facility. Most auto parts stores have a 5 quart limit on recycling oil.How to get rid of barrel of used motor oil?
Most service stations, repair facilities, and quick lubes will accept used oil. But you may have to put it in smaller containers to transport it to them.
Autozone or advance will recycle it for free. Most shops or parts stores will for free.
Take it to your local dump. They have a special place where you can dispose of the oil.
